with Bob Ashcraft are Dean Sutherland (left to right) who joined
the National Ski Patrol at Snow Valley in 1964. Dean was Patrol leader at
Snow Summit in 1962, Outstanding Ski Patroller in 1966, Section Chief in
1971 and Asst Regional Director in 1974. Dean was the first person to
receive the Regional Directors Award (later named the Dave Tollakson
Memorial Award). Dean holds National Appointment number 2699.
Al Shillman joined National Ski Patrol in 1948 when the organization was a mere ten years old. He joined Snow Valley Ski Patrol in 1952. In the 50's he was appointed Section Chief and later became Regional Director and then Far West Division Director. In 1968 he was asked by Harry Pollard, National Director to be the first Assistant National Director. Al holds National Appointment number 1760. Chuck Morse was Executive Director of the Far West Ski Association. He co-owned and developed the Mountain High Ski Area. Chuck was chairman of the first International Freestyle Skiers Association, Regional Director for the Southern California region, National First Aid Chairman, and developed the NSP's Angel Pin program. He was voted outstanding Ski Patrolman in the Far West Division in 1969. Chuck is a Certified Avalanche instructor and a Certified Professional Ski Instructor (PSIA) of America. Chuck holds National Appointment number 2825. Allyn Barrows patrolled Snow Valley between 1964 and 1976. He helped formulate the Southern California Nordic Patrol with Bruce Bell and was one of it's early patrol leaders. He was a member of Lake Placid Olympic Ski Patrol in 1979-1980. During the year of the Olympics. Allyn holds National Appointment number 3193. |
